Excellent Ceramic Blades
I am not new to ceramic knives. I have purchased another brand of ceramics before so I knew somewhat what to expect when the Kyocera set arrived. Compared to another no-name brand, I felt the Kyocera set had some advantages. This set quickly bites into tomatoes, peaches, fruits with zero slippage along the sharp edge. The blade has no hesitation cutting into soft fruits and veggies making paper thin slices super easy to do. My other set of ceramic blades are thicker on the backend of the blade much like stainless steel knives. But the Kyocera set measures the same uniform thickness on the sharp and dull edges. Why is this important? It makes cutting those paper thin tomato slices easy because it removes the ambiguity of whether I am holding the blade at the precise angle to cut even slices. At first, this uniform thickness makes them look like lesser quality than my other set but in actual performance, they worked better. The set also comes with a serrated blade for when you need that kind of application. The only con are the ergonomics of the handles and because the Kyocera set doesn't include sheaths to protect the knives. I felt, if less expensive sets include sheaths, then the Kyocera should also. The handles don't feel firm in the hand like other ceramics so that's a downer. But nevertheless, they do perform extremely well.I do wish they came in all black or gun metal gray. I don't get why ceramics come in fruity colorful colors. But that's just my subjective feeling about them. On the plus side, Kyocera offers a life-time sharpening service included with the set. I haven't used their service yet because I just bought them but if they stand true to their promise, I would think Kyocera blades provide a good value. But having a second set of these knives would make sense so while one set is back at Kyocera being serviced, I would have another set to keep using in the kitchen. One tip I would like to pass on. If I had to buy again, I would still buy Kyocera. However, I would pick a set with only longer knives. The smaller knives aren't as useful and don't get used often. So it's wasteful if you think about it. You don't want to use ceramic blades on ceramic plates so the smaller blades aren't very useful for the dinner table either. Ceramic blades should only be used on wood cutting board to prevent them from chipping. I use a bamboo cutting board because of their natural antibacterial properties.

Very sharp!
I ordered these because I had heard good things about ceramic knives. They are super sharp! No problem slicing through vegetables & boneless meats/fish.

Sharpest knife in the drawer!
The Kyocera knives are literally the sharpest knives I have and as a result the only knives I use when food prepping. I absolutely love them. I had taken the chefs knife with me when I moved away to go to school . I dropped it and broke it . I gD to reorder immediately as I found that was something I simply Had to have. No worries, I’d had for a few years so they are not easily breakable.

Chipped after 6 months, painful customer support
Chipped after 6 months of careful use. I wonder if the ceramic chip ended in our food. Avoid.UPDATE: the contact form on the website yielded no response. Searching for their email I found the support email. A tedious process ensued, where I need to send on my own expense the broken knife to get a replacement. No shipping label. So technically they might respect the warranty (still need to see if I get a replacement knife back) but they don't make it easy, and you need to pay for shipment ($10 with USPS for a $30 knife). My rating is not changed, due to the poor support and the risk of ending with sharp shards in your stomach.

More practical than previous generations but not as sharp
I've bought Kyocera ceramic knives over many years. Compared to older generations, these seem more tailored for durability. My old pairing knife had a much sharper point for piercing a green pepper to take out the stem for example. My old knives came sharper but dulled more quickly. Chinese ceramic knives used to be no competition, but now they are and for less money.

Incredibly Sharp Knives from an Incredibly Gracious Company
The knives are every bit as good as every five star review states. They are also brittle. It's my job to do the dishes and clean up after meals. I used these knives several times and was pleased by, but scared of, of their sharpness. I dropped the paring knife on our tile countertop and the blade broken if half. Only a few inch drop, but it broke. My fault, clearly. The packaging was still in the waste can and I read lifetime guarantee. There were no exceptions listed. So I went to the Kyocera website and found a warranty return form which I filled out, explaining how I broke the knife. I filled it out and packed it with the knife and sent it off to California...figuring I only had a few dollars in postage to use. I never got a confirming email or call so after two weeks I wrote it off to bad experience and planned to write a three star review. Yesterday, a large unmarked package was delivered by UPS. Large! As in 21"x11"x10". Nestled inside countless pieces of brown wrapping paper was a perfect, new-in-package paring knife. I was so pleased with how a large company handled a stupid mistake by a 75 year old customer. BUY THESE KNIVES.

If your wife does the cooking and you need to buy her a gift, this is it!
I have the hardest time buying my wife a gift because she has jewelry, cars, and whatever she needs and wants. She loves cooking for the family. I bought her this set of knives for her last Christmas and she loves it. These knives are razor sharp and makes cutting soft foods really fast. It is easy to clean! You must handle these knives differently than you do your metal knives. These knives cannot cut hard stuff like bones and you cannot toss them around in your draw. You have to handle them like glass because that is what they are technically. I bought my wife the special holders and sharpener to keep her knives sharp and in perfect condition. They are not as expensive as they were when they first came out.
