A really good step up
I started with a Ryze Tello tiny drone and then bought one of the £200 bigger nondescript brand ones to give me more options in wind. That drone was decent but I did crash it a few times which was annoying. The controller was my mobile and the range was limited.I am heading abroad so I decided to take the plunge with a 'proper' entry model. This has the benefit of being <249g using stock batteries so doesn't need to get involved with complicated rules and regs, easy to transport being folded up to the size of a small fist. The controller is brilliant with no need for a phone to run, and no interruptions from calls or messages. I have tested it and so far in our confined space it works well. On take-off it rises and stays still, when you release the joysticks it stays still and it has obstacle avoidance which works very well (apart from telephone lines!).I will hopefully get lots of hassle-free footage from my holiday which will justify the price. The test footage I have so far is excellent, 4k 60fps video and 48Mp stills. It's mostly avoiding crashing and the controls seem very intuitive. I have watched lots of beginner videos and now will get lots of real-world practice.I'm taking 2 x 256Gb SD cards which should hold around 8 hours plus of footage, and transfer to my phone or tablet is relatively painless. The 3 batteries should give me enough for each trip out, and I have the phone and GoPro to play with as well.Despite the class C0 small restrictions (keep in sight, not > 120m away, not over crowds etc..) I have done the CAA flight test and got my operator ID which I recommend. Insurance for such a pricy 'toy' isn't that expensive either for when you aren't in familiar surroundings.

Best drone for both beginners and pros
Just starting out, I did loads of research to make sure to get the best drone for me. This is absolutely the one any body should have. Seemed a bit small and flimsy at first but it is robust under normal conditions.Good looking. Good battery life and you can purchase more. Really good omni directional sensors to help avoid collisions. Lots of extras you can buy too if you really need them.I was impressed with the image quality and the frame size can be adjusted from wider angle 16:9 or 4:3 etc. I like that you can take both stills and video. Very stable in flight when its not too windy. It's pretty easy to use and there's a flight simulation app available to help you learn.Easily portable and can put it in the shoulder bag provided. Less than 250g so fewer restrictions, but you need to read the rules and register first with CAA anyway. Can be used for fun or more seriouslyand glad I bought it.

DJI Mini 4 Pro: A Beginner's Perspective
As a first-time user of the DJI Mini 4 Pro, I was thrilled with my experience from the moment it arrived. The delivery was impressively quick, reflecting DJI's commitment to customer satisfaction right from the start.Upon unboxing, I was immediately struck by the sleek design and compact size of the drone. Despite its small stature, the Mini 4 Pro packs a punch with its excellent features, making it an ideal choice for beginners like myself who are just dipping their toes into the world of aerial photography and videography. One of the standout features of the Mini 4 Pro is its ease of use. As a novice drone pilot, I appreciated how intuitive the controls were, allowing me to get up and flying in no time. The included remote controller felt comfortable in my hands, and the accompanying DJI Fly app provided a seamless interface for controlling the drone and capturing stunning aerial shots.Speaking of shots, I was thoroughly impressed by the camera quality of the Mini 4 Pro. The 4K camera delivered crisp, high-resolution footage, allowing me to capture breathtaking landscapes and memorable moments with stunning clarity. The built-in gimbal stabilization ensured smooth and steady shots, even in windy conditions, giving me confidence in the reliability of the device.Another aspect of the Mini 4 Pro that stood out to me was its portability. As someone who is always on the go, I appreciated how easy it was to transport the drone thanks to its lightweight construction and foldable design. Whether I was hiking in the mountains or exploring urban landscapes, the Mini 4 Pro was always ready to capture the perfect shot without weighing me down.In terms of battery life, I found the Mini 4 Pro to be quite impressive for its size. While I initially had concerns about flight time, I was pleasantly surprised by how long the battery lasted on a single charge. Of course, having spare batteries on hand is always a good idea for extended shooting sessions, but overall, I found the battery performance to be more than adequate for my needs. In conclusion, my experience with the DJI Mini 4 Pro has been nothing short of exceptional as a first-time user. From its quick delivery to its excellent features and user-friendly design, this drone has exceeded my expectations in every way. Whether you're a novice like myself or a seasoned pro, the Mini 4 Pro is a worthy investment for anyone looking to take their aerial photography and videography to new heights.
